alittle dark. the use of white highlights would be very striking on this piece. it would make the shading looking that much darking, thus reducing the need for too much shade.
other then that, the movement in the neck is beautiful.
Yep. I know what you mean. The actual sculpture is made from black marble. I agree about the highlights, though. That would emphasize the materiality better.

UPDATE: I'm taking a break from the strip. Cartooning is grueling, brutal labor that's fit only for the hardiest of souls whose fortitude and iron-clad will have been toughened by year after year of harsh...uh...harsh stuff. Really harsh stuff. Trust me. It's harsh.
So, bearing in mind how harsh it is, you could go check out the archives with a new sense of respect.

very dark, as i'm sure is the original. seek a lighter subject before trying to correct what you actually felt while drawing. no offense, now.fly.
